The first, 20-ton consignment of emergency aid has already arrived to the frontline city of Kherson. At the handover ceremony in Uzhhorod, HIA delivered 34 buses that were previously serving in the fleet of Hungary’s national intercity bus operator, Volánbusz. Some of the buses were immediately sent to flooded Kherson Oblast, where they are being used for humanitarian evacuation following the Nova Kakhovka dam explosion.
With the explosion and following spillover of the Dnipro dam at Nova Kakhovka a humanitarian disaster threatens several towns, villages and Kherson city itself.
