Support Centre bids farewell to Liu Shih-Chung

The Support Centre for Ukrainian Refugees received His Excellency Liu Shih-Chung, Representative of Taiwan on a farewell visit. The Taipei Representative Office (TRO), and especially Mr Liu has been one of the staunchest supporters of HIA’s work with refugees in Hungary: Seeing the large number of refugees arriving to Hungary, they pledged $1.5 million for the Centre’s operations back in the first part of 2022. In the past almost three years, His Excellency and the TRO have been closely following the humanitarian work of the Centre, participating in several joint events. Mr. Liu, however, will return to his country soon, so he visited the Support Centre one last time, thanked the participants for their cooperation and assured them that the next Taiwanese Representative to Hungary will also take the work of Hungarian Interchurch Aid to heart. Kristóf Gáncs, Executive Director, thanked Mr. Liu for his support and praised the Taiwanese people for their willingness to help. The event ended with a performance by the children of the Community Space for small children, a Ukrainian daycare affiliated with the Centre, who also presented Mr Liu with a traditional Ukrainian bread, a so-called “korovai”.
